Folk Storytelling, Punk Spirit & Truth.

Reuben Lovett is a folk, rock, and reggae songwriter from the West Midlands — folk rock that refuses to be put in a box.

Writing from his own lived experience, his songs sit somewhere between delicate and spiky: tenderness with an edge, built to bring audiences back into themselves, rather than simply entertain.

He's been writing and performing since his teens, building his sound the hard way, through live shows, busking, and years of festival appearances.
Developing a reputation for raw, high-energy, yet intimate performances that have carried him well beyond the West Midlands' grassroots scene.

Along the way he's been featured and supported by BBC Radio Gloucestershire, played Nozstock: The Hidden Valley Festival, supported internationally acclaimed Australian band Sticky Fingers and UK indie-rock favourites The Subways, and shared a stage with post-punk innovator Jah Wobble.

For the past two years, Reuben has also been a committed member of 11-piece outfit Dub Catalyst whose 2026 festival run alone includes 37 bookings, many of them main-stage. This has continued to sharpen his stage presence and audience rapport.

The same instincts run through his current single, "Old Mexico," released with cover art Reuben hand-carved himself — a lino print, completed in the same DIY way he approaches everything.
Soon to be followed by "Better Run", with a live recording captured inside St Mary's Church, Elmley Castle — a great example of a songwriter dedicated to capturing a real moment.

Solo, backed by a rotating cast of musicians, or fronting alongside Dub Catalyst, Reuben Lovett continues to build a distinct, independent voice within the UK's folk and roots scene — one steeped in honesty rather than genre, equipped to outlast any one lineup or label.
